| The
unit treats zinc ores called sulphide of zinc to extract
from zinc metal to 99,995 %, cadmium, copper and sulphuric
acid.
The zinc
ore is oxidized in a fluidized-bed furnace. This oxidation
gives zinc oxide and a gas (sulphur dioxide) which after
purification is transformed into sulphur trioxide then
in sulphuric acid.
This oxidation
also gives place to heat which is recovered in the form
of vapor high pressure to make turn a turboalternator
for the production of electrical energy of 2,2 MW.
The zinc
oxidation obtained is put in solution with sulphuric
acid to obtain a zinc sulphate solution.
This solution
is purified by cementing, then sent in cells of electrolysis.
Cathodic
zinc plates obtained by electro - deposition are redesigned
in furnaces to be put in the form of marketable zinc
ingots.
Copper
cathode, cadmium rods, the zinc alloys and pastilles
are produced in additional workshops located in the
enclosure of the factory.
